Theft allegations were false, Jefferson Parish resident claims

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish resident is filing suit against a man and two convenience store owners after they filed a police report claiming the plaintiff money from the store.

Manal Hamdan filed a suit against Soleiman Mobarak, the store employee, Omar Hamdan and Fatmah Hamdan in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 10.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was violated on July 12 when Mobarak contacted the New Orleans Police Department, claiming the plaintiff stole more than $70,000 from the convenience store where the plaintiff works. The suit states that the plaintiff was charged with a felony count for this false allegation, as well as arrested and imprisoned.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages and is represented by Paul J. Barker and Martin Regan Jr. of Regan Law in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court case number 16-8043.
