NEW ORLEANS — A bankruptcy trustee is suing a vessel owner, alleging failure to pay $350,000. 

Eva Engelhart, bankruptcy trustee for the estate of Harkland Gulf Services LLC, filed a lawsuit Aug. 1 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against M/V Siem Spearfish alleging failure to comply with the Federal Maritime Lien Act.

According to the complaint, Harkland Gulf Services provided the umbilical cord for the M/V Siem Starfish, necessary to undertake its operations with the use of a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). Despite repeated demands, the suit says, Harkland has not received reimbursement for the whole amount of $350,000. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendant has failed to make payment for the umbilical cord.

Englehart seeks a trial by jury, a court order and adjudge that M/V/ Siem Starfish, its engines, tackle, etc. in rem, be arrested, condemned and sold to pay the demand, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and attorney fees, damages, plus interest, legal costs and reasonable attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Harry E. Morse of New Orleans.
