Woman allegedly fell while at East Jefferson General Hospital for a mammogram

GRETNA – A woman claims she fell while allegedly being escorted by a hospital employee to her mammogram. 

Celeste Saltalamachia and Bruce Saltalamachia filed a suit against Jefferson Parish Hospital Services District No. 2, doing business as East Jefferson General Hospital, in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 4.

According to the claim, the plaintiff Celeste was a patient of the defendant on Sept. 16, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to fall and sustained injuries when she was walking to her mammogram.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to take the necessary precautions to protect its patients.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Leonard L. Levenson, Christian Helmke, Colleen Boyle Gannon and Donna Barrios.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
