University of Orleans is seeking damages for outstanding fees

NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans is seeking damages for an open account.

University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through University of New Orleans filed suit against Javon Marquise Jones in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 15.

According to the claim, the defendant was a student at the school in the fall 2013 semester. The suit states that the defendant incurred more than $1,400 in outstanding debt.

The defendant is accused of open account against the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is seeking restitution of the full amount of the debt plus interest, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Rokeya J. Morris, assistant attorney general for the Louisiana Department of Justice.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court case number 16-8145.
