NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana man is suing an offshore drilling company, alleging its negligence led to the plaintiff sustaining injuries.

Dennis Pilcher filed a lawsuit Aug. 4 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Seadrill Americas Inc., alleging violation of the General Maritime Law.

According to the complaint, on May 15, 2016, while working on the defendant's vessel West Pegasus in the Gulf of Mexico, Pilcher sustained severe injuries, causing physical pain and suffering, lost wages, medical expenses, disability and loss of enjoyment in life.

The suit says Pilcher required knee surgery.

The plaintiff alleges Seadrill Americas failed to provide safe place to work, failed to give proper and appropriate warning and failed to adequately plan the offshore operation ongoing at the time of incident.

Pilcher seeks a trial by jury, judgment of $2.5 million, plus interest from the date of incident and all legal costs. He is represented by attorneys Berney L. Strauss, Rhett E. King and Clinton G. Mead of Strauss & King APLC in New Orleans.
