Roofer diagnosed with mesothelioma alleges former employer was at fault

NEW ORLEANS – A roofer suffering from mesothelioma is seeking damages for alleged exposure to asbestos while on the job.

Ronald Smith filed suit against Georgia-Pacific LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug.12.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was exposed to dangerous chemicals and as a result, allegedly suffered from physical and mental pain and suffering after he was diagnosed with having mesothelioma.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to provide a safe environment for humans, failing to provide individuals with the proper protection and failure to warn the individuals affected of the present danger.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by David R. Cannella.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court case number 16-8110.
