NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that a loose cable wire caused him to fall from his bike.

Nicolas Rivera filed a suit against Bell South Telecommunications, doing business as AT&T Louisiana, and XYZ insurance company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 15.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was riding his bike on Eden Street on Aug. 14, 2015, when he suddenly encountered a low-hanging wire that was the property of the defendant. The suit states that the wire caused the plaintiff to fall off of his bicycle and sustain injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to maintain their property in a safe manner.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Tim L. Fields of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
