Man alleges he was injured after tripping over pallet at Sam's Club

GRETNA – A man is seeking damages, claiming that he was injured when he fell in a Sam's Club.

Louis Martinez, husband of and Joyce Martinez, filed a suit against Wal-Mart of Louisiana LLC, doing business as Sam's Club Warehouse Store, in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 18.

According to the claim, Louis Martinez was inside the Sam's Club, located at 1527 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on an empty pallet while shopping, which caused him personal injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to maintain a safe place of business.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Robert B. Evans III of the Evans Law Firm in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
