Slip02

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she fell from her bike due to an excessively slippery surface.

Constance C. Burks filed a suit against Howard Hughes Corp., Riverwalk Marketplace (New Orleans) LLC, Interstate Cleaning Corp. and Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug 23.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was riding her bike on April 15 on the Spanish Plaza property of the defendants. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to fall from her bike due to the floor, which had been kept slick and wet. The suit also states that the fall caused the plaintiff to be injured.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to take steps to remove the liquid and failing to warn visitors of the danger associated with the property.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Kenneth E. Pickering and Gary A. Cotogno of Pickering and Cotogno of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
