New Orleans Redevelopment Authority alleges property owner did not make improvements

Contract 10

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority alleges a man did not make improvements to a New Orleans property as outlined in a contract.

The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority filed a suit against Beldon C. Lyons and the city of New Orleans in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on May 26.

According to the claim, Lyons was given the deed for a home in 2011, but has since refused to make any movements towards rehabilitating it, which was outlined as the requirements for ownership in an agreement that was signed by the defendant. The suit states that Lyons has also failed to make payments of taxes, and the plaintiff seeks for the city of New Orleans to show cause why the delinquent taxes should not be canceled so the title may be transferred back to the plaintiff.

Lyons is accused of breach of contract through failing to align his actions with those outlined in the agreement.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Victoria Hines of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Regina Bartholomew Woods.
