Woman is seeking damages after a slip and fall in Family Dollar store

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages following a slip and fall in a store.

Debra Haynes filed a suit against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana Inc., also known as Family Dollar, in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 24.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer of the defendant's 4314 Downman Road property on Sept. 10, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall in liquid that was left on the floor, resulting in injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to maintain safe conditions for customers and failing to clean up the liquid or provide any warning of the danger.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Robert T. Hughes and Ryan J. Hughes of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
