Man claims power cords at Wyndham hotel caused him to fall

NEW ORLEANS – A man alleges he was injured by power cords at a New Orleans hotel.

Calvin Kemp Sr. and Jean Devard-Kemp filed a suit against Wyndham Vacation Ownership Inc., doing business as Wyndham La Belle Maison, in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 19.

According to the claim, Calvin Kemp Sr. was an invitee of the defendant's on Aug. 1 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to fall and be injured when he tripped on an electrical cord that became wrapped around his leg. He alleges the fall injured his right knee and other parts of his body.

The defendant is accused of negligence through allowing such a condition to exist and for failing to warn of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by James M. Williams, George B. Recile and Barry W. Sartin Jr. of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum and Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
