Man claims that he fell in Houston's Restaurant due to poor lighting

NEW ORLEANS – A couple is seeking damages for negligence after the husband fell in a restaurant.

Dunwoodie A. McDuffie Jr. and Cheryl McDuffie filed a suit against Hillstone Restaurant Group Inc., The Travelers Indemnity Co. of America and Carmen Carillo in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on April 7.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was eating at the Houston's Restaurant at 1755 St. Charles Ave. in New Orleans when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff fell on the stairs while on his way to the restroom due to poor lighting.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failure to provide adequate lighting, failure to have handrails and other counts.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiffs are represented by Wayne M. LeBlanc of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
