Homeowner claims Southern Fidelity Insurance did not provide enough for mold claim

Contract 05

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims that her insurance provider did not fully refund her for damages.

Sheryl L. McBride filed a suit against Southern Fidelity Insurance Co. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff's Piety Drive, New Orleans property was damaged in 2015 by a storm and caused the roof to leak, which led to mold, mildew, termites and poor air quality problems in the home. The suit states that the defendant failed to provide her with adequate funding for the damages suffered because of the mold problems. She alleges she was forced to move from her home in September 2015 and has not been able to return.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is representing herself.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
