Woman alleges she fell at New Orleans school because of staircase's conditions

NEW ORLEANS – A woman alleges she fell at a school because of a poorly maintained staircase.

Shayla Condoll filed a suit against The Charter Oak Fire Insurance Co., New Beginnings Schools Foundation and Pierre A. Capdau Charter School in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the defendants' property located at 4621 Canal Street in New Orleans on Jan. 5 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on an uneven surface while walking on stairs.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to maintain the stairwell and failing to warn of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Brian King, Jason F. Giles, Anthony J. Milazzo III and James E. Courtenay of the King Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
