SHREVEPORT – A visually impaired man alleges he was forced to quit his job at a fast food restaurant because of a hostile work environment.
Joseph Norris filed a complaint on Aug. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against O & M Restaurant South LLC, doing business as Burger King; Angela Smith; and Julio Montes alleging that they failed to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during his employment with defendant at a Shreveport location, he was subjected to continued discrimination and humiliation because of his disability, causing him extreme pain, suffering, grief, mental anguish and inconvenience. The plaintiff holds O & M Restaurant South LLC, Smith, Montes and Louisiana Quality Management responsible because the defendants allegedly created a hostile work environment directed at his disability, limited his work hours and compelled him to quit by refusing to make reasonable accommodations.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages that are reasonable in the premises, attorney's fees, court costs and expert fees. He is represented by David F. Butterfield of Mayer, Smith & Roberts LLP in Shreveport.
