Mother claims St. Mary's Academy of the Holy Family's negligence caused child's wound

NEW ORLEANS – A mother is seeking damages claiming that her minor child was injured in a fall at school.

Craigshonda Lumkins, individually and on behalf of her minor child, filed a suit against St. Mary's Academy of the Holy Family and Christian Brother Services Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff's minor child was caused to trip and fall on an electrical plug assembly for the gym scoreboard that was sticking up on the floor in the school. The suit states that the plaintiff's child was injured in the fall and suffered a 6-inch laceration, which had to be medically treated.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Jonathan B. Andry of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
