Man alleges he was injured by Rouses Market security guard

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages, claiming that he was wrongfully forced to the ground and accused of shoplifting by a security guard.

David Regier filed a suit against Rouse's Enterprises LLC and Brian Frere in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the incident occurred on Aug. 14, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was exiting Rouses Market, located at 400 N. Carrolton Ave., when he was assumed to be shoplifting and was forced to the ground by Frere. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured in the process and was proven not to have been shoplifting, making the attack unwarranted.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Stephen M. Huber, Brian P. Marcelle and Gina M. Palermo of Huber, Slack, Thomas and Marcelle in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
