Sav-A-Lot shopper alleges metal strip caused injury

NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that a defective piece of equipment in a store caused him to be injured.

Troy Williams filed a suit against Old Republic Insurance Co. and Moran Foods LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was caused personal injury on March 11, 2015, at the Moran Foods LLC's Sav-A-Lot store in New Orleans when a piece of metal that was protruding from a display was caught by his cart and caused the strip to hit his knee.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to maintain the premises in a safe manner and failing to repair the defective piece.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by John B. Fox and Robert W. Booksh Jr. in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
