Man claims he broke femur, hip in fall at Racetrac Petroleum station

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages, claiming that he was caused to slip and fall on a slippery substance at a gas station.

Ruiel Willis filed a suit against Racetrac Petroleum Inc., et al. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer at the Racetrac located at Joor Road and Greenwell Springs Road when the incident occurred on March 10, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall upon entering the store as he encountered a slippery substance on the floor and broke his femur and hip.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to maintain the premises of the store in a safe manner and failing to warn of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by John F. McKay of McKay Law Firm in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
