Concert attendee claims spilled drink at Smoothie King Center caused fall

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages, claiming that she slipped, fell and was injured at the Smoothie King Center.

Christine Fontana filed a suit against the state of Louisiana, Louisiana Stadium & Exposition District and SMG in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a business invitee to the Smoothie King Center on March 8, 2015, for a concert when the incident took place. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused personal injury when she was caused to slip and fall on a puddle of spilled drink that had been left on the floor. The fall allegedly resulted in multiple physical injuries to the plaintiff.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to properly clean the premises, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Stephen M. Huber, Charles M. Thomas and Gina M. Palermo of Huber, Slack, Thomas and Marcelle in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
