LAFAYETTE – A fisherman alleges his hand was crushed while working.
Walter Green filed a complaint on Sept. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division
against Lewis Boys LLC alleging that the fishing vessel owner failed to provide a safe place to work.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 22, 2014, while he was working as a fisherman and crew member aboard defendant's F/V Lewis Boys, he was caused to suffer serious injuries when his hand was crushed between F/V Lewis Boys and the mate's purse boat. The plaintiff holds Lewis Boys LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train its employees, failed to warn him concerning conditions in the work place, failed to provide a safe workplace and failed to provide safety equipment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in a full and true sum of $2,500,000 with prejudgment and post judgment interest, cost of these proceedings and all other relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by Gregory E. Tonore of Law Office of Gregory E. Tonore LLC in Lafayette.
