The University of Louisiana at Lafayette alleges former student owes more than $5,000

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Louisiana at Lafayette alleges a former student has not paid his fees.

The University of Louisiana System board of supervisors through the University of Louisiana at Lafayette filed a suit against James Ackerson in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff issued services to the defendant that were valued at more than $5,000 for the Spring 2012 semester. The suit states that the plaintiff has not received payment for the amount they are owed.

The defendant is accused of open account against the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is seeking $5.369.94 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Scott L. Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
