Man alleges bricks fell on him, causing injury

NEW ORLEANS – An East Baton Rouge individual claims that bricks and mortar were responsible for personal injury.

Cleopus Benson filed a suit against Youth Rebuilding New Orleans Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 27.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at 2747 St. Ann St. on Sept. 27, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured when bricks and mortar fell from the adjacent building and struck the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to keep the building in a safe condition and for failing to provide proper warnings.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by J. Nelson Mayer III of Valteau, Harris, Koenig & Mayer in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
