Shopper seeks damages following her alleged slip and fall in a Walmart

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is suing Wal-Mart for its alleged negligence in her slip and fall injury.

Jowanda Richerson filed a suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest of the Walmart located at 1901 Tchoupitoulas St. on Jan. 24, 2015, when the incident took place. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured when she slipped and fell on a large amount of water that had been left on the floor.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to clean the premises of the store or warn of the present danger.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by D. Patrick Keating, Amanda B. Rizzo and Julie-Ann Duhe'Keating of The Keating Law Firm in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
