Law money 07

NEW ORLEANS – Two Slidell screw towboat owners allege the boat's port main engine was not properly installed, causing the engine to fail.

Shane C. Marine Towing LLC and Cass Marine Towing LLC filed a complaint on Sept. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against American Bearing LLC and American Bearing & Supply LLC alleging negligence, breach of marine contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that the defendant installed, repaired and serviced their vessel M/V Shane C's port main engine in November 2015. On Dec. 27, 2015, the suit states the M/V Shane C. was in service and performing a towage contract at a rate of $3,400 a day when it suffered failure of the port main engine, causing plaintiffs to suffer damages in the sum of approximately $250,000 and to lose its contract.

The plaintiffs holds American Bearing LLC and American Bearing & Supply LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly perform installation, service, repair, refurbishment and/or maintenance of the M/V Shane C's engine.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in favor of plaintiffs for all damages, costs, expenses, prejudgment and post-judgment interest and all other relief as the court deems just and equitable. It is represented by Michael W. McMahon and Kirk N. Aurandt of Daigle Fisse & Kessenich PLC in Covington.
