Man alleges he slipped on spilled diesel fuel at Murphy USA station

GRETNA – A man is seeking damages, claiming that he slipped and fell on diesel fuel at a filling station.

Keith Pharis filed a suit against LIberty Mutual Insurance and Murphy Oil USA Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 30.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at a Murphy Oil fuel station in Jefferson on Oct. 2, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused personal injury when he slipped and fell on the ground, which was covered with diesel fuel.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to take the necessary steps to prevent such an incident from occurring and failing to warn the plaintiff of the potential for injury.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Brandon J. Venegas of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
