Shopper alleges he slipped and was injured in a Kmart

GRETNA – A man claims that he was caused to fall due to the fault of a Kmart store.

Joseph Conforto filed a suit against 7223 Kmart Corp. and XYZ insurance company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 11.


According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the Kmart located at 7000 Veterans Memorial Blvd. on May 31 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall when he encountered a wet substance at the store's entrance.


The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Thomas W. Shlosman of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
