A woman is seeking damages after she claims she was punched in the face by a random individual

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she was punched in the face by an unknown individual in Dollar General.

Dolores Stephney filed a suit against Dolgencorp LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at the Dollar General store located at 2841 South Claiborne Ave. when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was approached by an individual who offered to carry her bags out. When the plaintiff refused, the individual punched the plaintiff in the face, the suit states.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to be aware of the danger on the premises, failing to keep customers safe and allowing an unknown individual to be on the property of the store.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Julie-Ann A. Duhe'Keating and Christopher Gross.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case number 2016-8801.
