NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that he was exposed to asbestos because his residence was in proximity to asbestos manufacturing plants.
Eddie Thomas filed a suit against Burmaster Land & Development Co. LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 21.
According to the claim, the plaintiff resided in an area that was located nearby a manufacturing plant that used asbestos-containing chemicals in the 1980s. The suit states he was diagnosed with mesothelioma a year ago. The plaintiff is seeking damages, claiming that the defendant should have known of and warned of the dangers related to the chemicals.
The defendant is accused of negligence.
The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Mickey P. Landry, Frank J. Swarr, Philip C. Hoffman, Amanda J. Ballay and Matthew C. Clark of Landry & Swarr LLC in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
