Woman claims board in parking lot caused fall

NEW ORLEANS – A tenant claims that she tripped at an apartment complex.

Sylvia V. Scott filed a suit against Lexington Insurance Co. and HRI Redemptorist LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 17.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was walking through the defendants' parking lot at an apartment complex located at 950 Josephine St. on Oct. 16, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall due to a wooden board that had been placed in the parking lot, injuring her head, scalp, face, brain, back and neck.

HRI Redemptorist LLC is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Mark W. Smith of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
