Northwestern State University claims former student owes more than $1,000

GRETNA – A former university student is accused of failing to pay education fees.

The University of Louisiana System board of supervisors through Northwestern State University filed a suit against Joey R. Black in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 9.

According to the claim, the plaintiff allowed the defendant to attend spring 2008 classes, but the suit states that the defendant failed to pay fees.

The defendant is accused of open account against the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is seeking $1,648.13 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Scott L. Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
