Regional Transit Authority, others accused of negligence by woman hit by streetcar

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims that she was hit by a streetcar and was injured.

Heather Sockrider, wife of, and Guy Sockrider, filed a suit against Regional Transit Authority, Ivan Prevost, Veolia Transportation Maintenance and Infrastructure Inc. and Transdev Services Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 7.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was crossing the Canal Street on Nov. 7, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while the plaintiff was crossing the street, a streetcar struck the woman, causing her bodily and mental damages.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Patrick H. Hufft of Hufft and Hufft of New Orleans and by Thomas W. Shlosman of Shlosman Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
