Driver alleges he was struck by Wal-Mart/Swift Transportation employee

GRETNA – A man claims that his vehicle was struck by a driver Jefferson Parish who fled the scene.

Jerry Wolfe, individually and on behalf of his minor child, filed a suit against Walmart Louisiana LLC, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Swift Transportation Co. of Arizona LLC, Mohave Transportation Insurance Co. and John Doe in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 17.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was in his car driving with his child as a passenger, on Dec. 31, 2015, on Manhattan Boulevard. The suit states that the plaintiff was stopped at a traffic signal when a vehicle operated by Doe and owned by Wal-Mart and/or Swift struck the plaintiff's car, and Doe fled the scene.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to control the motor vehicle in a responsible manner and failure to train, supervise and monitor employees properly.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Richard D. Roniger II, Robert P. Charbonnet Jr., James S. Rees IV and Graham J. Rees of Charbonnet Law Firm in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
