University of Louisiana at LaFayette seeks payment for a student's attendance

NEW ORLEANS – A university is seeking payment for more than $3,000 from a former student.

The University of Louisiana system board of supervisors through University of Louisiana at LaFayette filed a suit against Bennie Alexander Lashley in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 28.

According to the claim, the plaintiff allowed the defendant to attend the institution the spring 2011 semester. The suit states that the defendant has failed to pay more than $3,000.

The defendant is accused of open account against the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is seeking $3,138.31 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Meghan N. Beal of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
