Patient alleges she suffered burns because of laser hair removal treatment

NEW ORLEANS – A woman alleges she suffered first-degree burns during a hair removal treatment.

Brittany Bass filed a suit against Stevens Metzinger M.D. Jane Doe in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov 23.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a patient of the defendant and was seeing the medical professional for laser hair removal on her face and chin. She alleges on Dec. 23, 2011, Doe, an aesthetician, performed the treatment and left her with first-degree burns on her face that have scarred.

The defendants are accused of failure to ensure the removal system was properly calibrated and other counts.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by M. Suzanne Montero and Warren A. Forstall Jr. in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
