Louisiana company alleges well operators breached contract

Oildrill 03

SHREVEPORT — A Louisiana company is suing Oklahoma well operators, alleging breach of contract.

Martin Producing LLC of Caddo Parish filed a lawsuit Nov. 22 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Shreveport Division against Chesapeake Louisiana LP, Chesapeake Operating Inc., Chesapeake Energy Corporation and Chesapeake Energy Marketing, Inc., all of Oklahoma City, alleging failure to comply with their contractual obligations.

According to the complaint, Martin Producing suffered monetary damages for not receiving the correct proceeds reflecting its correct participation interest in each of the wells.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants incorrectly calculated the plaintiff's net and gross revenue interest, failed to properly pay the plaintiff's share of the proceeds and refused to credit the plaintiff's correct acreage.

Martin Producing seeks trial by jury, judgment granting the specific performance, damages and permanent injunctive relief, plus all general and equitable relief. It is represented by attorneys David R. Taggart and David J. Topping of Bradley Murchison Kelly & Shea LLC in Shreveport.
