Orleans Parish woman says J.C. Penney, shopping mall failed to warn of danger in store

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish woman is suing a department store, a shopping center and insurance companies, citing negligence. 

Patricia Johnson filed a suit against Lakeside Shopping Center, J.C. Penney Corp. Inc., AIG Olathe Casualty and XYZ Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was at the J.C. Penney located in the Lakeside Shopping Center when she allegedly tripped and fell, sustaining damages to her hip, right leg, ankle and knee. The suit states that the plaintiff fell inside the store due to poor maintenance.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they were negligent in failing to maintain the store or warn of the danger that was present.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by James P. Johnson of James P. Johnson and Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 767354.
