Hartford Insurance blames electric company for client's injuries

NEW ORLEANS – Hartford Insurance is suing an electric company, alleging its negligence caused injuries to a client.  

Hartford Casualty Insurance Company, Serenity Spa filed a suit Dec. 15 against Frisch Hertz Electric Company Inc and Gray Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, Gwendolyn Thomas was an employee of Serenity Spa. On Dec. 18, 2015, the suit says, she slipped on some water that was left on the floor by Frisch Hertz, which was doing wiring work in the building. The lawsuit states Thomas suffered injuries 

The lawsuit states the dangerous situation was caused by the defendant, which failed to clean up a mess after it had finished working. The defendant is accused of negligently failing to see the danger and warn of it.

Hartford Insurance seeks $16,907.47 in damages, court costs and attorney fees. It is represented by attorney Jeff R. Ryttewski of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case number 16-12268.
