Slip02

NEW ORLEANS — A seaman is suing S.H.R.M. Catering Services, Inc. d/b/a Eurest Support Services, a catering company, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Kyrin Jones filed a complaint on Dec. 5, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against S.H.R.M. Catering Services, Inc. d/b/a Eurest Support Services alleging that the catering company failed to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Feb. 17, 2014, while in the course and scope of his employment as a steward seaman assigned to a vessel owned and operated by Caldive, he stepped on a cleaning rag causing him to fall backwards and sustain injuries. The plaintiff holds S.H.R.M. Catering Services, Inc. d/b/a Eurest Support Services responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide proper supervision, training and instructions and failed to provide maintenance and cure.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks declaration that this petition be deemed good and sufficient, compensation for damages in such sums as may be deemed reasonable in the premises, plus interest, costs and any other relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by Franklin G. Shaw and Walter J. Leger, Jr. of Leger & Shaw in Covington and Jack H. Tobias of Jack H. Tobias Law Offices in New Orleans.
