NEW ORLEANS – A Latin-American roulette dealer alleges she was forced to quit her job at a New Orleans casino because of sexual harassment from security and patrons.
Evelyn E. Emperador-Baker filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Harrah's New Orleans Casino alleging sexual harassment and retaliation.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that due to sexually hostile work environment that made it unsafe for her to work, she was ultimately forced to quit on June, 26, 2014, after 14 years of service with the defendant. As a result, she alleges has suffered and will continue to suffer monetary damages, mental anguish and humiliation unless and until the court grants relief. The plaintiff holds Harrah's New Orleans Casino responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to protect her from the threat on her personal safety and permitted a pervasive and severe sexually hostile work environment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys' fees and costs for this action and such other necessary and proper relief. She is represented by Jessica Vasquez of Vasquez Law Office in New Orleans.
