NEW ORLEANS – A Connecticut company is seeking confirmation of an arbitration award that relates to a Kenner company.

Louis Dreyfus Co. Grains Merchandising LLC filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Theco International Inc. seeking to confirm and obtain a judgment on an arbitration award.

According to the complaint, on May 17, 2016, The Grain and Feed Trade Association entered an arbitration award in the favor of plaintiff in the amount of $1,852,640.56. The suit states the award related to the defendant's allege failure to buy several thousand tons of yellow corn at a rate of $120 per metric ton per a contract. To date, the plaintiff alleges it has not received payments from defendant. The plaintiff holds Theco International Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to make any payment for the said arbitration award.

The plaintiff seeks confirmation of the arbitration award, attorney’s fees, post-judgment interest and all further relief deemed just. It is represented by Michael W. Rutledge of Salley, Hite, Mercer & Resor LLC in New Orleans.
