ALEXANDRIA – A Montgomery senior alleges she was terminated from her employment as director of nursing because of her age.

Tina G. Lavespere filed a complaint on Dec. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Alexandria Division against Fleur De Lis Healthcare LLC, doing business as Colfax Reunion Nursing and Rehabilitation, alleging that the former employer violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 30, 2016, she was terminated from her employment by the defendant citing a lack of work. The plaintiff holds Fleur De Lis Healthcare LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected her to discrimination because she was in her 60s, unlawfully terminated her employment and replaced her with a younger employee. As a result, she alleges she has suffered and continues to suffer wage loss of past and future earnings, bonuses, embarrassment, humiliation, anxiety and mental pain.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, consequential and liquidated damages, attorneys' fees, litigation expenses and all other available relief. She is represented by Nelson W. Cameron in Shreveport.
