NEW ORLEANS – A seaman alleges he was injured on the job and that his employer has failed to pay maintenance and cure benefits.

Christopher Lilly filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Aramark Corp., Transocean Offshore Ventures Inc. and Transocean Offshore USA Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 16, 2014, he was employed by defendant Aramark working as a seaman aboard defendants Transoceans' vessel when he sustained serious injuries when he fell from his bunk. He alleges he has suffered physical and mental pain, disability and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Aramark Corp. Transocean Offshore Ventures Inc. and Transocean Offshore USA Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work and failed to timely pay maintenance and cure benefits and refuses to do so in the future.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly, severally and in solido, for damages in an amount to be determined at trial, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs and all other relief that justice may provide. He is represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and Kristi A. Post of Scheurmann & Jones in New Orleans.
