Customer blames Walmart for fall, injuries

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is suing Walmart, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Hermaine Collins-Jordan filed a lawsuit Dec. 8 against WalMart Louisiana LLC and ABC Insurance Company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on June 30, 2016, Collins-Jordan was a customer in the Walmart, 4301 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans. The suit states the plaintiff was walking toward the cash registers from the freezer aisle when she was caused to slip and fall in a puddle of water.

The lawsuit states Collins-Jordan suffered physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment and loss of enjoyment of life. The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to clean up the store, creating a dangerous situation and failing to warn of the danger.

Collins-Jordan seeks reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys Jason M. Baer, Rajan Pandit and Casey Dereus of Pandit Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
