Whitney Bank alleges dead man left more than $4,500 in debts

GRETNA -- Whitney Bank alleges a family owes more than $4,500 to pay off the debts of a dead relative.

Whitney Bank filed a suit Jan. 9 against Dianne Sylve in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the claim, Donald J. Sylve executed a Visa application/agreement with Whitney Bank on June 29, 2010. The suit states he died in 2014, leaving a balance of $4,522.92. The plaintiff asks that his wife make the payments due on the account.

Whitney Bank seeks the unpaid sums, attorney fees and court costs. It is represented by attorney John Dale Powers of Powers, Sellers & Chapoton LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 768054.
