NEW ORLEANS – A tankerman alleges he was injured by a grinder while working aboard a ship.
Marcus Lomax filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Marquette Transportation Co. Gulf-Inland LLC alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 29, 2015, he was a crew member performing duties as a seaman aboard defendant's M/V Ross Salvaggio when he sustained personal injuries to his head, face, mouth, neck and back because of a grinder. The plaintiff holds Marquette Transportation Co. Gulf-Inland LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide appropriate safety tools and equipment, failed to properly train and supervise employees and failed to provide maintenance and cure benefits.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for all damages, penalties, attorneys' fees, costs and expenses and such other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and Kristi A. Post of Scheuermann & Jones LLC in New Orleans.
