SHREVEPORT – A railroad worker alleges he was injured when a vehicle overturned.

Jarelle Cooper filed a complaint on Dec. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against The Kansas City Southern Railway Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 15, 2016, he was working for defendant when he sustained severe and debilitating injuries to his right ankle and other parts of his body when defendant's Kubota vehicle overturned. As a result of his injuries, he alleges he has suffered and will continue to suffer physical impairment and disfigurement and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds The Kansas City Southern Railway Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to safely inspect, repair, and maintain the subject vehicle and failed to establish and enforce proper safety procedures.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant of more than $75,000, plus interest and costs, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Bristol Baxley of Rome, Arata & Baxley LLC in Pearland, Texas.
