NEW ORLEANS – A Jones Act seaman alleges his back was injured in an accident while working.
Donald Michael Dunaway filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Atwood Drilling Inc. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 3, 2016, while he was employed by defendant, he experienced an accident at defendant's M/V Atwood Advantage that resulted in serious painful injuries to his body. He alleges he was caused to suffer physical, mental and emotional pain, loss of wages, disability and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Atwood Drilling Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide proper training and supervision, failed to provide minimum safety requirements and failed to provide maintenance and cure benefits.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, special and general damages, plus interest, maintenance and cure benefits, all costs of this action, and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris and Megan C. Misko of The Young Law Firm in New Orleans.
