BATON ROUGE – A resident of the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center alleges he was denied medical treatment.

Brian Roberts filed a complaint on Jan. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Maj. Shannon Lessard, Maj. Kevin Durbin and Lt. Lindell Slater, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 26, 2015, he was incarcerated in the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center when he collapsed to the floor and suffered a stroke. As a result of defendants' alleged deliberate indifference to his constitutional rights, he claims he suffered acute physical, mental and emotional injuries. The plaintiff holds Lessard, Durbin and Slater responsible because the defendants allegedly initially did not provide medical treatment and delayed his receiving of treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for all damages, litigation expenses, attorney's fees and costs and all such other relief that the court may deem just, equitable, or proper. He is represented by Donna U. Grodner of Grodner Law Firm in Baton Rouge.
